Duties of Postal Affairs Section are International Parcel Clearance, customs clearance for bonded exhibits and consulting services.

Postal & General Affairs Subsection: Registration, document scrutiny, deposit, release,consulting services, documents processing, accounts keeping, and customs declaration management.

Examination & Valuation Subsection I: Examination, tariff classification and valuation for ordinary parcels and bonded exhibits.

Examination & Valuation Subsection II: Examination, tariff classification and valuation for International Express Mail Service ( EMS parcels), one-step service (faxing the “application for import certificate” to Ministry of Health and Welfare, Executive Yuan).

Introduction of Baggage Inspection Section

Baggage Inspection Section takes charge of passengers’ luggage clearance and examination in Taipei SongShan International Airport.

The mean functions of Baggage Inspection Section:

1. Clearance and inspection of inward passengers and crews’ luggage.
2. Supervision of inward passengers’ depositing luggage.
3. Handling the informing against smuggling as well as
   dealing with emergency cases out of office hours.
4. Passenger’s service and VAT refund.
   1. VAT refund of foreign passengers.
   2. Clearance and registration of accompanying gold, currencies and other securities.
   3. Clearance of ATA Carnet cargo.
   4. Bonded factory’s export samples’ registration and clearance.
   5. Clearance of CITES products.
   6. Relevant information services.
5. Enforcement of anti-smuggling by targeting the high risk passengers who may carry high value and tariff rate merchandise, controlled and dangerous articles, goods infringing IPR and products of endangering animal and plant species, with intensive examination.
